Jeff's Bees
Wednesday, July 29, 2015, 12:09 PM
Minneapolis artist Jeff Millikan has been collaborating with nature to make art work for the past half dozen years. He has been an artist in residence at the Bell Museum and used moths building cocoons as part of his art work. But it is his bees that has gotten most of his artistic attention the past few years. Today's Minnesota Daily features an article on his work and an upcoming conference on bees, art, colony collapse, and bee education programs. The full article is found here.

Mel Dominguez Paints a Mural at the Anderson Center
Wednesday, July 15, 2015, 03:41 PM
On a trip to Tucson AZ a few years ago we came across the work of Mel Dominguez at the Tucson Tamale Factory. Mel is their artist in residence and we were immediately taken by her work. It is a mixture of stong Chicano and LA street art roots with comic book, border culture and musical playfulness. Her wonderful sense of color and storytelling combine to make pieces that we felt had to been seen in the Midwest.

With the help of local arts organizations we were able to bring Mel to the Red Wing Anderson Center's summer event. She spent a day talking to local artists, art lovers, Anderson Center residency artists, tourists and everyone else who came by to see and help her paint her mural. With a bit of touch up work and mounting the stretchers all together the work is now finished and on display at the Red Wing Art Association galleries at the Amtrak Depot. From there it will move back to the Anderson for the Winter show opening in December. Click on the image to see it larger.

Husom and Rose Featured in Digital Output Magazine
Saturday, October 5, 2013, 12:10 PM
This months issue of Digital Output magazine features a story on scanning and large format printing. We are featured in the article for our work with the Anderson Center in Red Wing and photographer Rob Meyer. The issue includes a large reproduction of an image taken by John Anderson around 1915 of his sister Jean looking into a very early movie camera.

John, son of A.P. Anderson, the creator of Puffed Wheat and Puffed Rice, would later go on to be one of the first abstract painters in the Midwest. His wife Eugenie Anderson was the first woman to hold a US ambassador to a foreign country.

Additional images include a second John Anderson photograph taken later of his sisters and friends and a contemporary medium format film photograph taken by Rob Meyer in South Dakota.

All of the images in the article were printed on our Epson printers at 40 inches high by 40 to 50 inches wide. The Anderson Center images are on permanent display in the restored barn at the center. Rob's image is part of a series that will eventually be in a new Bloomington MN restaurant.

A PDF of the issue is available online. Flip to pages 48-53
